Annual Skills School- 2011

For more info about the school, e-mail us your questions. More info links at the bottom.

The signature event of the Tumblehome Canoe Club is the annual skills school. The purpose of this school is to teach the general public safe canoeing through skill development. The school is held at the Rotary Sunshine Park on Thorburn Road. The 2010 school saw 26 candidates successfully complete various levels of Paddle Canada certification.

The fee for the school is $125.00 per person and $100 per extra family members (Family members must live at the same address). Applications are limited to adults 19 years and over. Younger participants may apply if the are able to handle a canoe and must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Please e-mail for more info.

Tumblehome provides nationally certified instructors and offers certification under Paddle Canada standards.  The school provides flat water canoeing instruction for the novice up to the advanced level.

The 2011 school will focus on on the water training and a number of land session will follow each water training session. The course will begin June 2nd with a pool session at 7:30pm. The course will continue June 17th at 6pm on the pond.

This approach will give students a great base to start them on the right path to enjoy the sport of canoeing. We hope that you'll provide us with your feedback after completing our course so that we can improve it in future years. The weekend following the course we will have our annual school day trip, the traditional Class Paddle.

School participants are encouraged to join in other club activities throughout the year that will give them an opportunity to chat about these and other topics with other Tumblehome members.
